We are excited to announce that the third edition of the Óbidos Cultural Game Jam will be taking place from February 4th to 7th 2025.
This third Game Jam will focus on the Carnation Revolution of 1974 — an important historical event in the history of Portugal that brought an end to decades of dictatorship. Last year marked the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution, and this Game Jam provides an opportunity for participants to explore what this means for them. In this sense, games become the medium through which to talk about important themes such as democracy, social cohesion, and storytelling.
This year’s edition builds on the success of the first two Óbidos Game Jams. The first game jam in Óbidos focused on the topic of “Óbidos: Creative City of UNESCO Literature,” while the second game jam focused on the biodiversity and sustainability of Óbidos Lagoon. The third Game Jam will bring together students from Lusófona University and the Josefa de Óbidos Secondary School. For the first time, this edition will feature a Youth Advisory Board—a group of six young people—who will guide and support participants throughout the event. As always, the Game Jam will be preceded by a series of cultural activities. We look forward to sharing more insights from the game jam with you.
