Hilversum Hub Game Jam #4 – Recap

Hosted by the Hilversum Hub in collaboration with HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht (Hogeschool Utrecht), this four-day-long jam brought together students of Immersive Design to explore urgent questions at the intersection of heritage, democracy, and water .

Drawing from Nederlands Instituut voor Beeld en Geluid’s audiovisual archives, participants reimagined the past and speculated on the future:
What happens to democracy in a flood?

Who gets to decide who stays or goes?

Can heritage survive underwater, and if not, what new traditions might emerge?

Through prototyping, playtesting, and storytelling, young game makers imagined games that confront the rising tides and remind us that heritage is not just what we inherit, but what we choose to carry forward.

A huge thanks to our partners Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, DROPSTUFF MEDIA, Nederlands Instituut voor Beeld en Geluid, and HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht (Hogeschool Utrecht) for making this edition possible.
