Over the past month, EPIC-WE’s capacity-building webinars and workshops have begun to answer this intriguing question. These sessions are designed to provide deep insights into this intersection and explore a myriad of other exciting possibilities.
Throughout November and December 2024, EPIC-WE’s in-house experts, including Rikke Toft Nørgård (Project Coordinator), Conceição Costa (Óbidos Hub Lead), Susannah Montgomery (Hilversum Hub Lead), Kim Holflod (Aarhus Hub Lead), and Marina Rossi (EPIC-WE Resource Website Coordinator), joined forces with external invitees and esteemed members of the EPIC-WE Advisory Board—Mary Flanagan, Gaetano Dimita, Dimitri Schuurman, and Annakaisa Kultima. Together, they delved into topics such as the state of the art in game jams and game development, the power of games as a vehicle for cultural values, the concept of cultural hubs and living labs, and how game creation can foster participation in EPIC-WE’s vision.
EPIC-WE’s mission is ambitious yet profound: to develop a methodology that envisions games as culture, through culture, and for culture. This approach seeks to engage diverse stakeholders and empower youth to actively shape their futures through the medium of game-making.
