The 2nd EPIC-WE Cultural Game Jam hosted in Óbidos, held from 29th April to 2nd May, culminated in a momentous final day featuring a special visit from Filipe Daniel, the Mayor of Óbidos. This event marked a significant milestone in the ongoing collaboration between the EPIC-WE project and the vibrant community of Óbidos.
The 14 games produced by students from Josefa de Óbidos Highschool and Lusófona University reflected the theme of biodiversity and sustainability in Óbidos Lagoon, a regional landmark, exploring the creative relationship between learning and game-making.
The thematic core of these games revolved around the rich biodiversity and sustainability of Óbidos Lagoon, a regional landmark. Through their creations, the students demonstrated an adept fusion of learning objectives with the artistry of game design, exploring the intricate interplay between education and entertainment.
This game jam, which brought together 62 people, is the continuity of the innovative partnership between Óbidos and the EPIC-WE project, which started with the 1st Cultural Game jam held in February 2024, and will continue for the next year.
In his remarks following the presentations, Mayor Filipe Daniel expressed his enthusiasm for the games produced, underscoring the pivotal role of this collaboration in harnessing the potential of video games as vehicles for cultural discovery.
